Kauai Travel Tips

Essentially - Kauai was what I expected Hawaii to be. A beautiful tropical island, low key, full of waterfalls and a wide range of terrain

Flights

There are opportunities to fly directly to the island - or - fly through Honolulu and take a Hawaiian Airlines flight. It is quick, inexpensive and flexible.

Lodging

There are various options though mostly AirBNB/ VRBO, etc. plus various resorts.

Things that I found great to do...

• Boating along the Na Pali Coast plus snorkeling

• Kayak up a river, hike to waterfalls - so amazing

• Waimea Canyon State Park

• Biking along the Ocean - bike rentals

• McBryde & Allerton Gardens (National Tropical Botanical Garden) - tour and dinner - this was a highlight of the trip

• Didn't do: Tubing, Ziplining

• Plantation Train/ Animals

• Kauai Plantation Railway - great for kids - includes animal interaction
